Sidney could have watched these spider monkeys swing for hours. She's very into swinging right now! They would fall on the ground and she'd giggle.
She loved this little bunny. She said, "Bunny go hop, hop!" We pet it through the gate. Wish we would have known we could have gone inside.
This big guy was swinging all over the place. Sidney walked up to the railing and waved at him. I'm pretty sure he waved back. He just held onto the cage and watched her.
Sidney got to pet baby lions. They were so cute and sleepy.
Nathan was bending down to pet the baby tiger that you can't see in the cage. What Nathan didn't see is this baby lemur eyeballing him. Can you guess what happened next?
If you said, "Lemur on Nathan!" you're right! He jumped so quickly it was a blur. Nathan yelled a little in surprise. He had made a new friend that no matter how many times Nathan got the lemur off of him, he kept jumping on Nathan's back. Hee, hee Nathan's got a monkey on his back.
The lemur decided Nathan's back wouldn't do, so he crawled up on his head and started to lick Nathan's hair. Classic!
Sidney got to ride a lion!
Time to feed the goats!
There were a ton of goats.
Don't know why this is sideways. Sidney loved the sheep. She followed them around saying, "Bah!"
Sidney giggling after petting the pig. I didn't know that pigs have the coarsest hair ever! It was weird.
The goats were all about getting fed. The pig kept shimmying the goat off, but he was a persistent booger.
After this came the incident, a goat bit Sidney. We had given her some corn to feed them. They swarmed her and a big brown one was chowing down on the corn and decided he wanted a two year old's finger too. Two fingers went in his mouth and his teeth chomped her. She screamed and we were sure that she was now one of those "people who lose a finger" to the animals. I carried her out of the petting area crying and clinging to me. She looked over my shoulder and the goats were following us because we still had food. She screams, "Goats coming! Goats bite Sidney! No like goats!" I couldn't help but laugh at the sheer terror. Poor baby! There was no blood and she still has all five fingers.
We ended our trip saying good-bye to the donkeys. Please note they are zebras. Sidney thought they were donkeys.
We of course had to buy her a souvenir. This is the smallest shirt they had so it's now a "redneck nightgown" as Nathan likes to say. I look forward to going to the safari again. It's way better than the Tulsa Zoo with a shorter drive and lots of good photo ops and memories. Check out their site here for more info!
